Welcome to the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence!

Founded in 1979, the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI) (formerly the American Association for Artificial Intelligence) is a nonprofit scientific society devoted to advancing the scientific understanding of the mechanisms underlying thought and intelligent behavior and their embodiment in machines. AAAI aims to promote research in, and responsible use of, artificial intelligence. AAAI also aims to increase public understanding of artificial intelligence, improve the teaching and training of AI practitioners, and provide guidance for research planners and funders concerning the importance and potential of current AI developments and future directions. Digital Archives System Maintenance

AAAI will be performing some system maintenance on all AAAI proceedings archives as well as archives of ICWSM, AIIDE, SoCS, HCOMP, and ICAPS for the next several months. During this time, selected proceedings archives may be unavailable for a short period of time.

AAAI Congratulates Winner of 2022 AAAI Squirrel AI Award for Artificial Intelligence for the Benefit of Humanity

AAAI is pleased to announce that the 2022 AAAI Squirrel AI Award for Artificial Intelligence for the Benefit of Humanity will be presented to Cynthia Rudin of Duke University for her work in the area of interpretable and transparent AI systems in real-world deployments, and her advocacy for these features in highly sensitive areas such as social justice and medical diagnosis. Major Activities of the Association

Major AAAI activities include organizing and sponsoring conferences, symposia, and workshops, publishing a quarterly magazine for all members, publishing books, proceedings, and reports, and awarding grants, scholarships, and other honors.


AAAI Code of Professional Ethics and Conduct

The AAAI Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct is designed to inspire and guide the ethical conduct of all AI professionals, including current and aspiring practitioners, instructors, students, influencers, and anyone who uses AI technology in an impactful way, and is particularly intended to act as a standard of ethical and professional conduct for all AAAI members. Additionally, the Code serves as a basis for remediation when violations occur.
